 are mainly two types in the industry referred to as 71 Series and 80 Series. In a simplistic form they are both fine wire staples ideal for attaching fabric but differ slightly on the following points:

1. Crown width (Measurement across the top of the staple) for 71 Seriesit's 9mm and for 80 Series it's 12.8mm

2. Thickness (Gauge) 71 Series is 22 Gauge and 80 Series is 21 Gauge (Slightly thicker)

3. All staples are supplied in a galvanised finish but we do stock some types/sizes in Stainless Steel– for exterior work, boat building etc.

1. Upholstery staples are galvanized steel provides a very thin layer of coating with a measure of protection against the elements. Over time these fasteners may corrode. Not recommended for ACQ Treated Lumber.

2. It used for furniture upholstery, dust covers, cabinet backs, tv/stereo screening, felt insulation, roofing felt, case backs, molding, shoe-making, taxidermy, screen door assembly and repair.

3. Both types are operated through air operated staplers and vary in leg length from 4mm to 16mm maximum – the most popular size for general upholstery work tends to be 10mm. Shorter lengths are used when the piece being recovered is thinner for example window pelmets and car door panels.

4. The 80 series type is 21 gauge (slightly thicker wire than the 71 series) galvanised with a 12.8mm crown. The larger crown and slightly thicker gauge helps when fixing very fine materials such as vinyl and breathable membrane.
